About the PTA

The Ivy Parent and Teacher Association is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to serve as a bridge between parents, teachers, and administrators at The Ivy School and to provide financial and volunteer support for the entire school community. As members of the national PTA, The Ivy PTA is somewhat restricted in how we support the school. The PTA may support: community events, field trips, student enrichment, school beautification, classroom materials and volunteer events.  The PTA may not support salaries, financial investments on behalf of the school, or facility rent, mortgage, utilities, or maintenance.

The Ivy School PTA raises approximately $11,000 each year which is held in a separate bank account managed by the PTA.  PTA members vote on how to allocate those funds.  Examples of the PTA’s fundraising events for 2020-21 include: the Blue Bag Drop, a Materials Fun Run, an Apple Sale, the Read and Write-a-thon.  The PTA also organizes community-building events. In the past, these have included the whole family campout, an Ice Cream Social, an annual school wide bowling event at Halloween called The Monster Bowl, and an ice skating party in January. This year, we will also hold community building events, but they will be different. We welcome community input. PTA meetings are open to anyone who would like to learn more about their activities.

The Ivy PTA uses funds raised to supply snacks to the entire school, to buy classroom materials such as the digital boards we donated to the Middle School, teacher supplies not covered by the materials fee which teachers individually purchase, providing monthly staff lunches and staff appreciation gifts and this year we started a Hardship Fund to support Ivy Families who may be experiencing hardship due to the coronavirus or for any other reason.
